Dojo and WebSockets

by Dylan SchiemannNovember 1st, 2010

Dojo 1.6 is adding support for WebSockets through a new dojox.socket API. It provides many convenient features including fallback support for other protocols such as long-polling.

Examples include:

  • basic dojox.socket usage
  • reconnect
  • connecting dojox.socket with new Dojo object store API
  • force usage of long-polling
  • using custom headers
  • CometD
  • Socket.IO
  • CSP with Orbited
  • Tunguska (Persevere 2.0’s new Comet module)

Dojo 1.6 trunk has this now. A final release of 1.6 is expected prior to the end of 2010.
